This half-day “Credit is an Asset” workshop is an interactive training for microenterprise development organizations and IDA practitioners on how to integrate credit building into their lending, technical assistance and financial education activities. The workshop offers our Credit Builder 5-Step(c) model that presents a way to build client capacity and measure financial capability. We will discuss opportunities for IDAs to double their savings by integrating credit building.  "Credit Collaborations that Can Benefit Family Services Staff and Volunteers"                          How can credit reporting and credit counseling make a difference to homebuyer readiness? This session was part of the conference's Family Services Track.  

"The Importance of Reporting to Credit Bureaus"                                                              Participants learned about the important role that credit reporting plays in professionally managing mortgage portfolios and maximizing the success of homeowners, as well as reporting payment histories to the credit bureaus. This session was part of the conference's Financial Management track.

"Credit Building: How to Help Individuals Build or Rebuild Credit" Pre-Conference Training Workshop

How can microenterprise, mortgage, and other consumer-oriented CDFIs integrate credit building into their lending, technical assistance, and training activities?  How can the Credit Builder 5-Step model toward financial capability help? CBA "Credit is an Asset" Pre-Conference Training Workshop

September 21-22, 2010, Washington, DC

CBA's "Credit is an Asset" pre-conference training, held in conjunction with the CFED "Assets Learning Conference" challenged practitioners to re-think credit, integrate credit building as a powerful asset-building tool, and learn innovative financial capability strategies to help clients. Participants walked away with a better understanding of today's credit economy and a new asset-based approach to credit that works from outreach to outcome!

 

CBA "Credit Building is Asset Building" Workshop

September 22, 2010, Washington, DC

 CBA and Progreso Financiero teamed up to present "Credit Building is Asset Building" at the CFED "Assets Learning Conference" last month in Washington. The workshop provided an intensive and hands on introduction to credit building and small dollar loans in asset building. Presenters shared national best practices in credit building and small dollar loan programs that are building credit and assets. Participants  explored a case study of a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in a Latino community that is taking small dollar loans to scale and transforming lives one loan at a time. The session concluded with a group exercise to guide participants through factors to consider in building a credit building and small dollar loan program relevant to their organizational mission and target market. 

 

CBA SBA Microloan Intermediary "Innovations: Credit Builder Loans" Webinar

CBA is a portal that shares best practices on credit builder products from around the country. Webinar participants learned about diversifying their loan portfolio with innovative credit builder loans and services, and about what innovative work is being done nationwide. 

 

CBA "All About Credit Reports and Scores" Webinar

Participants gained a deeper understanding of credit reports and scores – FICO, Vantage, Expansion scores, Small Business Scores - and learned about nonprofit access to credit reports and the importance of scores and reports.
