FAQ: Once caught up, will late payments still show on a credit report?

Yes. While a credit report will show that a credit line is caught up, it will also show that if it was late in the past. Late payments, like all derogatory information, can stay on a report for seven years. However late payments generally start to "age off" after about 24 months.
