Nobody needs to pay to fix errors -- it just requires a bit of time and letter writing. First contact the creditor. If that does not work, write a letter to the credit bureau. Credit Repairservices may offer to help expedite the process for a high fee, but they can be very expensive and cannot legally do anything the consumer cannot do. It is also good to be wary of credit repair services that promise to remove derogatory information that is true. Even if the service is successful in removing negative information at a point in time, credit bureaus have the right to put it back on a report once it is verified.
