Vikki Frank, Executive Director

Vikki Frank is the founding Executive Director of Credit Builders Alliance - an innovative social enterprise nonprofit creating new solutions for financially underserved families in the U.S. to build credit and assets. She has 15 years experience creating wealth building and anti-poverty solutions for international, national and community-based organizations throughout the Americas and Africa. Vikki comes to CBA from the Department of Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund where she helped certify and underwrite federal funding for CDFIs as well as strengthen Native CDFIs. Prior, Vikki worked at the Latino Economic Development Corporation as business program manager and IDA coordinator. She also worked nationally with US Department of Health and Human Services to help nonprofits build their capacity to offer effective financial education, IDAs, and asset building in underserved communities. Vikki has worked with over 600 community-based organizations providing technical assistance, training, and consulting to build their capacity around financial services. She is recognized for her expertise in adapting mainstream asset-building strategies to diverse population. Vikki also worked with the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis of the University of Southern California to expand university participation in education IDAs. She holds an undergraduate degree from McGill University and a policy degree from Columbia University.

Sarah Chenven, Innovations Director

Sarah joined CBA as Innovations Director in October 2011. In this role, she will focus on identifying new and creative platforms and tools for CBA's current and prospective members that help individuals gain access to responsible credit- and asset-building financial products and services. Most recently, Sarah was the Founding Executive Director of Innovative Changes, one of the few CDFI nonprofit loan funds in the country dedicated specifically to consumer lending, financial education, and credit building as a responsible alternative to payday lenders. Prior to Innovative Changes, Sarah was with Mercy Corps where she advised low-income entrepreneurs in the Portland Metropolitan area on the development of their small businesses; she also directed the organization’s Hurricane Katrina recovery program in New Orleans. Sarah has over a decade of experience in nonprofit and public sector organizations whose missions are to help disadvantaged groups create systemic change. She has managed numerous programs with sizeable budgets and staff and has worked in diverse and challenging contexts, including post-war Bosnia. Sarah has a Master's Degree in Public Administration, a J.D. from the University of Texas, and is a member of the Oregon State Bar.

Kristin Redmond, Relationship Manager

As Relationship Manager, Kristin Redmond leads our member support team and is committed to ensuring all CBA’s current and prospective members have the knowledge and tools they need to successfully credit report and access credit reports through our credit bureau partnerships.  Prior to CBA, Kristin was a Regional Sales and Marketing Consultant working for Ameriprise Financial in Minneapolis. At Ameriprise, Kristin was responsible for creating best practices, marketing materials, and training 2,500 financial advisors over a 9-state region to help them offer innovative financial solutions around credit, deposits, and estate planning. Most notably, Kristin established herself as a subject matter expert on credit cards and assisted Ameriprise in the launch of a new credit card suite targeted at helping financial advisors understand the important role of credit cards in building credit. Kristin also served on Ameriprise’s Leadership and Worker Safety Committees.  During her time in Minneapolis, Kristin volunteered extensively for Common Hope and co-led a team of volunteers to Guatemala where they built homes, performed social work visits, and taught lessons at the local schools. Additionally, Kristin volunteered with the Minnesota Women’s Political Caucus’ Diversity Committee; educating minority, Refugee and Native women on their rights as citizens and how to engage and participate in local government. Kristin holds an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University.

David Toper, Relationship Associate

As a Relationship Associate, David supports CBA’s Access and Reporter services and assists in research pertaining to program expansion and development. Prior to joining CBA, he was with the Center for Financial Inclusion at ACCION International where he served as program coordinator for the Harvard Business School- ACCION Program on Strategic Leadership in Microfinance. In this position, David coordinated the admission and attendance of 60 microfinance executives, representing more than 30 countries. David also spent a year working for Senator Jeff Merkley (OR) as a Correspondence Assistant. David helped manage the Senator’s correspondence with constituents, business leaders, and government officials and conducted preliminary research on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. David received a BA in International Relations with a focus on the International Economy and Business from the University of Southern California.

Elisabeth Johnson, Relationship Associate

As a Relationship Associate, Elisabeth supports CBA’s Access and Reporter services and assists in research pertaining to program expansion and development. Prior to joining CBA, she was a Program Coordinator at American University's International Communication Program in the School of International Service. As Program Coordinator, she assisted in the retention and recruitment of both faculty and students, conducted communications and outreach efforts, and was active in curriculum and event planning. During her graduate studies toward an MA in International Affairs with a focus in International Politics and Human Rights from American University, she worked as a research assistant on international issues pertaining to social entrepreneurship, internet governance, and dissemination of innovation. Additionally, Elisabeth conducted field research in Turkey for her master’s thesis, studied modern French history and European institutions in Strasbourg, France, and speaks French fluently. Elisabeth holds an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in International Relations and Psychology, with minors in Middle Eastern Studies and French.

Dana Bulba, Communications Fellow

As a graduate fellow, Dana is helping implement and develop CBA’s communications strategies. She is also collaborating and working on projects pertaining to CBA’s training and knowledge sharing. Dana is in her second and final year of graduate school at Illinois State University where she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology with a sequence in Applied Community and Economic Development. Dana graduated from the University of Maine in 2008 with a BA in Journalism with minors in Public Relations and Sociology. During her undergraduate studies, she interned at a local NBC affiliate and was an editor for her school’s newspaper. Upon graduation, she joined Teach for America as a 2008 Jacksonville, Florida charter corps member, where she taught the second grade.

Ken Christofferson, Executive Assistant

As the Executive Assistant, Ken provides ongoing administrative and programmatic support to the Executive Director and Relationship Manager. Prior to joining CBA, Ken interned at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, where he provided research and organizational support to the Economic Policy program and Aid Effectiveness team. He also spent time in Senator Patty Murray’s office, where he worked closely with the legislative aid for international affairs and defense.  Ken is a graduate of American University and holds a BA in International Relations with a focus in International Development.
